What is a budget?

A budget in GivFlow is a collection of funds you choose to track together. It is not your accounting budget file. It is the lens GivFlow uses to total giving, watch year-over-year, and calculate donor statuses for those funds.

On the Budgets list, GivFlow tracks donor statuses (new, second, active, and the rest) and giving levels for each specific budget. Someone can be Active on one budget and New on another.

Typical pattern: a General / operating budget for unrestricted funds you run the church on, a Missions budget for missions funds, or — for smaller churches — All Funds in a single budget.

The Budgets list

Budgets in the sidebar (below Lists) opens the list. Each budget shows tags such as Calendar Year, Individual, and All Funds, plus Monitoring since (the date GivFlow started tracking it). All Funds means this budget is not limited to a subset of funds.

Create another budget with the purple + on this list, or + Add New Budget on Dashboards → Budgets. Questions about extra tracked budgets go to support@givflow.com.

Open a budget for analysis. A goal is the yearly target you are watching. If none is set, Compare shows No budget goal defined. From the budgets dashboard you can also jump to Add Budget Amounts. Goals live under SETTINGS on the budget.
