Automation Flows

You can send emails to donors when they give for the first time, to let them know they're donation failed, and more. You can choose who the email comes from and should be replied to, customize the timing of the email, and modify the content from the settings, but once you set it up and enable it, it will run when prompted!

Start with the Failed Recurring Donations Recovery automation!

Planning Center sends an email to donors if their donation fails. It comes from no-reply@planningcenteronline.com and is not customizable. Setting up the Failed Recurring Donations Recovery automation allows you to reach out to donors on a personal level, and if they don't reset their donation, they receive the next email until the emails have all been sent or they reset their donation to succeed.

Churches who use this automation see these results:

  • 67% of failed gifts are recovered
  • 30% of people give the gift they missed

From the Automations tab, review the available automations and choose the one to subscribe to.

Select your domain and enter the email address you'd like the email to be sent from and who receives any replies.

Email Settings

There are defaults already set for each automation, but you can customize them.

Customize when the email will be sent, the language for specific links, and add the number of emails you'd like a person to receive. Some automation flows only need one email, but for others, a donor may need additional nudges, like if their donation fails.

Content

Update the content with your church's language, or leave the content as-is. You can see how the email looks by toggling to Preview, or scroll down to send a test email.
