What are flows?

Branded email sequences

Flows (the app also calls them automations) put donor communication on auto-pilot. Each flow is a branded, domain-authenticated email sequence that runs when giving data says it is time, for example a failed recurring gift.

They send from your church's verified domain. Connect that domain under Settings → Email. See Branding and sender signatures.

The Email area in the sidebar is not a composer yet. Sending still happens in Flows. See Email overview.

The Flows page

Flows in the sidebar opens the Flows page. As the page puts it: Flows email your donors for you, based on what GivFlow sees in their giving. Emails send from your church's own domain. It has three tabs:

• Journey: flows that follow a donor through a budget, from a first gift to becoming Active, lapsing, and coming back. Pick the budget at the top. The page shows how many of that budget's flows are running (for example 0 of 8 flows running).
• Gift recovery: flows for failed card recurring gifts, failed bank recurring gifts, and one-time gifts that fail or whose payment method isn't verified. The page says Church-wide. Not tied to a budget.
• Pledges: flows for a pledge campaign. Pick the campaign at the top. The Ask Unpledged Donors to Pledge card shows Coming soon and can't be set up yet.

Each card says when the flow starts (for example Starts when a card recurring gift fails) and shows its status:

• Running: it is emailing donors.
• Paused: it is set up but not emailing anyone.
• Not set up: click + Set up flow to add it. See Subscribe a flow.
• Coming soon: not available yet.

Running and paused cards show how many donors are in progress and how many have completed.

Leave a paused flow paused until you have reviewed its emails. Click a running or paused card to open it and see Overview, Activity, and Edit Steps.
