Add DNS records at your host

Copy Type, Name/Host, and Value from GivFlow View DNS (or the email GivFlow sent). Do not invent records.

You add those rows wherever DNS actually lives — that is where the nameservers point, which is not always the registrar login.

Before you start

  • You already have the GivFlow records from View DNS or the Send email.
  • You can log into the account that serves DNS for the domain.

Add the records

  1. Confirm you are editing DNS where the nameservers point. A registrar login is not enough if Cloudflare, Route 53, or hosting DNS is in use.
  2. Add each record GivFlow lists. Map GivFlow columns to the host’s labels (see below).
  3. Save. Wait for the host’s stated cache or propagation window.
  4. In GivFlow, click Check DNS. Look for DKIM: Verified and Return-Path: Verified.

Field names

GivFlow columns to copy: Type, Name/Host, Value.

  • GoDaddy: Type, Name, Value. TTL default 1 hour. Most updates within an hour, up to 48 hours.
  • Namecheap: Type (TXT Record , CNAME Record ), Host, Value. Default Automatic / about 30 minutes.
  • Cloudflare: Type, Name. TXT uses Content. CNAME uses Target (some Cloudflare tables also say Content). TTL Auto.
  • Squarespace: Type, Name. TXT uses Text. CNAME uses Data. Custom records default 4 hours. Changes 24–48 hours.

Host-specific clicks: Add DNS records at GoDaddy, Add DNS records at Namecheap, Add DNS records at Cloudflare, Add DNS records at Squarespace.

Shared pitfalls

  • The host field is the prefix only. If GivFlow shows a name that includes your domain, most hosts want the prefix without the domain. @  or blank is the root (apex).
  • Do not wrap TXT in extra quotes unless that host’s docs require them. Cloudflare auto-quotes. Squarespace warns extra quotes on SPF can break resolution.
  • A CNAME cannot live at @  / apex on most hosts, and cannot share a name with A, TXT, or MX.
  • If Check DNS fails: typos, duplicate TXT, extra quotes, wrong host (nameservers elsewhere), or a Cloudflare proxy on a CNAME.

Note: Add the GivFlow rows. Do not change nameservers or remove existing mail records to make room.
